Basque Brunch: Hamaiketako!

  • Conserva 225 Elm Street Ludlow, KY, 41016 United States (map)

In the Basque Country of Spain asking about brunch might draw a blank stare. If you say “hamaiketako” eyes will light up. Hamaiketako means “for 11am”, and it is the time the world stops and they go for something savory in the late morning. It stems from hundreds of years of tradition when the farmers had to take breaks from hard work and heat to fuel up with cold garlic soup, chorizo sausages, milk, eggs, and of course cider and wine to wash it down. Today, the tradition continues as a time to slow down a bit and spend time with friends and family.

Join us as we make the world stop for 11AM to enjoy
